I am sure you are all aware of what memes are and they surely have a special space in your daily or weekly routine. Personally, I can't have a day in which I don't watch memes and share them with my friends. I truly believe they are a way of sharing your ephemeral joy with your friends.
Memes are known for being a satirical way to express something that is happening in the world, it may be something silly like a Kardashian's nail broke or something that can help create awareness or even inform about a current affair.
But not everything about them is fun and positive. Kyra Pringle, a mother whose daughter has a rare genetic disorder, posted a photo of her daughter’s birthday party on her Facebook account. Someone stole the photo and shared it thousands of times. The meme, which was digitally altered, compared Kyra's daughter with a monster or alien because of rare facial features caused by her illness. This is a way of bullying someone through memes, and it's even easier to do it in other situations.

You just need a picture of someone, in which he makes a silly face or any gesture that can be laughed about. Just think about all the memes you've seen of famous people going around social media. Nowadays they can't even make facial expressions without getting a silly meme done. During Beyonce's Super Bowl show in 2012, a series of super ugly photos from her performance hit the internet. The singer's publicist asked people to stop reposting the pics, but users continued photoshopping "Unflattering Beyonce" into all kinds of funny situations.
Hahahahah!!! yes Sofi, can't live a day without one! :o)
ReplyDeleteHey Sofia! I really liked your post and I agree with you, I also can’t have one day without spending time on instagram watching memes!
ReplyDeletePd: I follow at least 30 meme accounts so basically in my instagram feed a new meme is posted every 5 minutes!!

DeleteMemes. Are. Life. I agree completely. Whenever i use any social network such as instagram, snapchat or even whatsapp I need to use memes.
ReplyDeleteAnd not only online, I also use them to communicate with mi friends, for example, if I believe someone is lying to be or somethings seems unbealiveable I use the expression; "No lo sé, Ricardo, parece falso" which means I don't know Rick, its probably fake.
Hahaha! Sofía I can’t agree with you more. I basically live for memes.
ReplyDeleteIf you see my photos in my phone you will see, at least, 100 memes, which I use to reply every message. I have one for every situation.
Even my dad sends me memes. But I have to tell you they are not funny at all haha.
Does your dad send you memes?
Sofi, i agree completely. In my opinion, sharing memes with friends is one of the most enjoyables things to do when you have nothing to do!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Sofi! I also love memes. The thing that I most like of them is when a friend sends me one because she/he felt that I was identified with that meme and the other way around. Unlikely most people, I don't like when the accounts of memes post so much memes that I can't see the photos that my friends are posting on Instagram, for example.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful situation lived the mother of that daughter and Beyonce when their photos were viralized, I think nobody would like that something of that magnitude happens to him. We need to be careful with that.
I couldn’t agree more with Cristina, memes are life. The best part of the day is when i open instagram and watch memes, is a good way to clear your mind and get distracted. I also use memes to talk, i think there isn’t a day i don’t quote a meme. To be honest Miss, i even watch memes in class 😬😂
ReplyDeleteI think we are all on the same page, we all agree memes are a great way to get distracted or to laugh. But I noticed nobody thought about how memes can be use to make fun of someone, so I think memes are great but have to be use in a good way not to make someone feel bad.
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t agree more with Sofia, nowadays memes are an important Part of our lives, so It Is For us to use them correctly and being careful and don’t offend Anyone so everyone could enjoy them as we do.
ReplyDeleteI am totally agree with you Sofia! Memes can be a great way to give somebody a laugh, but also they could be a powerful weapon. Memes could be use to bully someone, so we have to be conscious about the use we give to memes.
ReplyDeleteI love sharing memes with you
Preach! Also I happen to believe that memes are a huge topic, they have taken control of social media and communication. It also has become a huge debate topic due to it´s goofy nature. Some people have a perception about memes that causes some rejection towards them by using the argument of being an overdone thing that has no contribution in our society, while others think they are a witty manifestation of our technological culture ergo being somehow part of what makes society a whole
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with you, i personally see a lot of memes as most of our generation and find it a characteristic that will represent our identity as a generation. They are good way to procrastinate and let loose for a while, sadly some people make fun of others by making their photos viral.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this post, because memes are everywhere. You can actually find them in all social networks.
ReplyDeleteBut I didn’t know how ease was to make one of this memes, and I am even more impress about how internet transform the information and make laugh of someone that you do not even know.
It is true that a lot of them are really funny but you can also find some that ironies situations, people, and also memes that divulged false information.
Memes are part of the modern generation of this world and we must be careful with the information they transmit
Hey Sofia. I couldn't agree more with you. Sharing memes is one of the highlights of my day and a very important one because you are making someone laugh. I also belive that memes are a way to criticise society and a way of self expresion.
