On may 18, “13 reasons why”second season will be available for all Netflix suscribers. Personally I am very excited for what is going to happen this season, especially because this is the final one.
For those who have not seen the show yet, it’s about a high school girl (Hannah Baker) who commited suicide. The serie explain us the 13 reasons why she killed herself; each reason has a tape with the name of the person who had a serious affection in her decision.
This serie had a lot of criticism from social media last year: this happened because of the explicit content showing this girl killing herself. In my opinion, they really went out of purpose and it was not necessary to show all the scene. They should have consider that anyone can access to the show, even a child.
What do you think will happen in this season?
Do you think that it was a bad call by the directors for showing the explicit scene?
Tell me your thoughts!

I’m excited to see what is the second season’s plot since the book only tells the first season. I personally find the story very interesting and important, since its necessary to be able to talk about this subjects in order to prevent situations like the ones in the series. But i do agree with you that anybody can have access to this images and they can be quite traumatic for some people.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the series but now that i read this comment on it i am quite interested in starting to see the firts season.
ReplyDeleteAbout the explicit suicide scenes i can't judge them because, as i said, i haven't seen them. But i think it is parent's responsibility to supervise what their children are exposed to. Small children shouldn't be allowed to have free access to internet whithout parent's supervision.
I happen to agree with that specific scene being showed because the explicit content is what let people be more aware and i think that is whu it had such a big impact. It took everyone out of their comfort zone so they could actually realize that depression is a real thing and so are it's consequences, it was just a really bad timing because the release of series was at the same time the blue whale game started.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hagerdorn por publishing, I saw 13 reasons why and I loved it. I didnt knew that there was going to be a second season so thanks for reminding me. I totally agree with the explicit scene where Hannah suicides because it gives a lot of emotion and intensity to the chapter. It was a bit a lot showing it but it was necessary to teach us the risks of bullying and bodering other people. It also show us of how fundamental is the parents role around a teenagers life and how sometimes you can see them perfect but inside they can be hiding the worst feelings.
ReplyDeleteThanks again por publishing and thanks for reminding that new chapters are coming
Hope to see it soon!!
I am personally not interested in this show because, even though the topic is important, we are not “doing” anything to prevent things like these from happening. It’s merely another TV production. We are just watching a show, with a hard-to-deal-with topic, but I am sure there are no discussions or reflections being made from it. Now, back to the question, I am sure the suicide scene is not something we have never seen in movies before. Again, the only difference for people feeling awkward or offended is the sensitive topic itself. I do not disagree with the producers having that included in the show at all. Wrong audience having access to the show is a totally different discussion.
